Takahashi Korekiyo, Japan's Keynes

An article by Dr. Richard Smethurst, professor of Japanese history of Pitt, was carried in the Asahi Shinbun on March 16, and the following day in the Asahi Evening News/International Herald Tribune. The first is in Japanese, the second is in English. Now you can read his article online both in English and Japanese at the following link of the Asahi Shinbun Glove.

His recent book “From Foot Soldier to Finance Minister: Takahashi Korekiyo, Japan’s Keynes” (Harvard 2007) will be translated and published in Japan in this year. The library has this book of course and I will add Japanese version to the Japanese collection. Before you read his book, I recommend to read this article. We need such a leader as Korekiyo now.
